In hortō sum explores the presence of life moving playfully in and above the ground. The pieces were inspired by drawings in which I explored what happens when the corners of a rectangular sheet of paper are set in motion. This concept was examined with two beech wood pieces.

Inspired by the Scottish sculpture park Caol Ruadh, the idea was expanded using two large oak trunks. The trees transformed into animistic forest beings, moving horizontally across the ground where they once grew vertically. They have since been relocated to another part of Scotland’s west coast, the Lunga Estate in Argyll, where visitors can sit on them and share the view.
